Quincy Faction Guide

Spirit weapon archers. Highest single-target damage. Lowest survivability.

The Quincy are descendants of an ancient lineage of spiritual beings who manipulate reishi — ambient spiritual particles — into weapons. In VV Ultimatum, that translates to the most ranged-focused faction in the game, capable of laying out damage from across the screen with bows, arrows, and constructed spirit weapons. They have the best ranged DPS profile, the most precise kit, and the weakest defensive baseline. Quincy gameplay is about positioning, patience, and absolutely refusing to be in melee range.

Identity and playstyle

A Quincy fight should look like this: you stay at long-to-medium range, you read the enemy's pattern, you punish committed attacks with focused bow shots, and you reposition the instant the enemy closes distance. You are not a fighter. You are an artillery piece. Your job is to delete the enemy before they delete you.

This sounds great on paper and is great in practice when it works. The downside is that your defensive stats are bad and your close-range options are mediocre. If a fast melee enemy gets on top of you and you can't disengage, you will die quickly. New Quincy players underestimate how punishing this is and try to play the faction like a rogue or a duelist. Don't. Lean into the ranged identity all the way.

Strengths

Weaknesses

Attribute priorities

Quincy builds revolve around Reiatsu as the primary attribute — it drives spirit weapon damage and skill effectiveness. Beyond that, you have to invest in survival because your baseline is so thin.

Key skill paths

The Quincy tree branches into roughly three offensive identities. You can hybridize but you should commit primarily to one.

Spirit Bow path

The classic Quincy archetype. Specializes in long-range bow shots with high crit chance and pierce. This is the highest pure-DPS path and the easiest to understand. Look for nodes that boost arrow damage, increase pierce count, and reduce reishi cost per shot. Best for solo content and boss fights.

Heilig Pfeil burst path

Focuses on charged "holy arrow" skills that consume reishi in big chunks for very high single-shot damage. This is the path you want if you like a deliberate, slow-rhythm playstyle: line up the shot, charge, release, watch the boss lose 25% of its health bar. Pairs well with posture investment because the charge time leaves you vulnerable.

Vollständig path

The Quincy "final form" branch. Late-tree skills that transform your character temporarily for massively boosted output. The downside is high Build Point cost (these are expensive nodes) and the transformation has a long cooldown. Best in fights you can't out-damage with normal skills — usually endgame bosses.

Where to go next

If you want a concrete Quincy build to start from, see the Quincy Ranged DPS Build walkthrough. For the underlying systems, read Build Points Explained and Attributes Explained.

The Quincy fantasy is the patient sniper who never gets touched. The faction is built to deliver that fantasy, but it punishes you for breaking character. If you can stay disciplined about range and positioning, Quincy will out-damage anything else in the game. If you can't, pick Shinigami.
